It’s been a whirlwind of a ride being stuck at home for so long due to the pandemic. Cooking meals at home, grocery shopping with masks on and rarely going out to a restaurant has been the theme for most of our lives for over a year now.
But, as they say in vegan land: when one door closes, another opens!
When everyone became bored (and lazy) with prepping food, shopping for meals, cooking, and also cleaning, vegan meal delivery services came to our rescue, even if we didn’t know about them until now.
If you’re a hard-working person like the rest of us, you’re probably pretty busy. Almost too busy, am I right?
For parents, these are difficult times. And, for every other vegan out there that may or may not have kids, it’s very tough to find the time to prep, cook, and clean consistent, healthy meals.
Fear, not my fellow GLAM-Vegan friends (and y’all are really GLAM)! Today, I bring you 3 solutions to the “I can’t stand cooking my meals” problem. I’ll be laying them out on the table for you to choose which one is right for you.

What Is The Better Vegan Meal Delivery Service? Veestro vs Purple Carrot vs Hungryroot
When talking about the best, you’ll only know until you try a handful of vegan meal delivery services. I have been going on a vegan meal service buying frenzy via the internet over the last year and a half. I guess I would fall into the lazy category of prepping, cooking, and cleaning meals. I’m just going to come right out and say it – I can’t stand cooking.
But, thanks to Purple Carrot, Veestro, and Hungryroot, I don’t have to cook anymore unless I’m really craving it.

Is Veestro Worth It?
With over 20 years of eating nothing but 100% plant-based foods, Mark and Monica saw a problem that needed to be solved. That problem was time-starved and hungry. There have always been fast food options for all of us, but we all know that those aren’t healthy choices.
Mark and Monica were raised in Costa Rica, where fresh, organic, home-cooked meals with plenty of vegetables and fruit were served daily. Now, they use what they’ve learned to create Veestro, which aims to help people like you and me feed our bodies with organic, healthy, sustainable plant-based foods.
And, like all three of these vegan meal delivery services, Veestro’s meals come fully prepared. That means we can eat them whenever and whenever we want. All food is 100% plant-based, organic ingredients, and preservative-free. For these reasons, Veestro is easily worth the price tag.
Veestro is by far my favorite choice in this article, but like all healthy food delivery services, it's not cheap eating healthy. The reason why it's my favorite? Well, I like pre-made food where it doesn't require me to do much work… yea… I'm pretty lazy in the kitchen (thanks Mark and Monica!)
How Much Does Veestro Cost?
Veestro is very affordable, as their restaurant quality, chef-prepared meals start at $9.90 per meal if you purchase the 30-meal plan. The interesting thing about Veestro is you can choose a weight loss plan or you can shop A La Carte. But, in essence, the price depends on how much you order. Let’s take a look at a quick and cool table that I put together for Veestro’s pricing:
Veestro’s A La Carte
A La Carte | Price |
---|---|
10 Meals | $11.70/meal |
20 Meals | $10.80/meal |
30 Meals | $9.90/meal |
Veestro’s Weight Loss Meal Plans
Weight Loss Plans | Meals | Price |
---|---|---|
5 Day Plan | 15 | $11.70/meal |
7 Day Plan | 21 | $10.80/meal |
Is Purple Carrot Worth It?
Are you ready to embark on a vegan-delicious adventure? Well, that’s what Purple Carrot is all about. You won’t get ready-made meals like Veestro offers. Instead, Purple Carrot provides recipes and ingredients. It truly does become an adventure as you get to learn from expert chefs how to create delicious plant-based meals.

What I loved about my first purchase with Purple Carrot was that I didn’t have to go shop for any extra ingredients. I chose the meals that I wanted, and Purple Carrot delivered detailed steps to prep and cook the meal. It was very simple.
Purple Carrot offers Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and snacks. Having all of these meal options is a breath of fresh air when it comes to choosing a meal kit brand as you can always count on them when you need them most. I can’t say that with all the plant-based meal kits I’ve tried. You can get $40 off your first order from Purple Carrot by clicking the link below and entering the Promo Code: carrot40.
What’s really cool about shopping on purplecarrot.com, is the fact that you can see the recipes and all the main ingredients before choosing your meal. In addition, it shows you the deets on prep and cook time.
If you prefer a hands-on cooking approach with a plant-based meal kit, then Purple Carrot is the better option for you. Veestro, on the other hand, would be the better choice if you don’t want to prepare and cook the meals from scratch as their meals are read-made / DFY (Done For You) where you can heat them up and start eating without cooking.
It’s exactly why they call it a delicious adventure, and, for that reason, Purple Carrot is totally worth purchasing if you want to be the plant-based chef you’ve always dreamed of being.
How Much Does Purple Carrot Cost?
Before we bust open the wallet and punch in our credit card number, let’s take a look at Purple Carrot’s pricing and meal structure. Again, I’ll use a detailed table breakdown to make it easier on all of our eyes.
Purple Carrot Pricing | Available Servings | Starting Price |
---|---|---|
Dinners | 2 or 4 | $9.99 per serving |
Lunches | 2 | $8.99 per serving |
Breakfasts | 4 | $4.49 per serving |

Snacks
Purple Carrot’s snacks, are totally separate and work like an A La Carte type of system. The snack prices range from $3.99 (dark chocolate) to $10.99 (Oaxacan Sampler).
Is Hungryroot Worth It?
Hungryroot is very unique compared to Purple Carrot and Veestro, although it is more comparable to Purple Carrot. Its uniqueness attracts many plant-based believers that love doing all the prep work, cooking, and being the chef in the kitchen.
There is so much food to choose from on HungryRoot.com that it could take you up to an hour to shop around if you don’t know what you’re looking for. For some people that could be a major turn-off, but I actually enjoyed the process myself.
In Hungroot’s food section, they offer:
Shopping Aisles | 100% Plant-Based |
---|---|
Fresh-cut veggies and fruit | 🌱 |
Meat + Seafood | 🌱 |
Plant-based proteins | 🌱 |
Grains + Pastas | 🌱 |
Sauces, Dressing + Dips | 🌱 |
Bread + Bakery | 🌱 |
Pantry | 🌱 |
Ready-to-eat | 🌱 |
Dairy + Eggs | 🌱 |
Beverages | 🌱 |
Snacks | 🌱 |
Sweets | 🌱 |
With all of the options they offer and the quality of the food that you’re getting, purchasing Hungryroot is a no-brainer if you want to prepare and cook the meals yourself. You can take their personalized quiz to see which foods you should add to your cart.
Hungryroot is the better option if you want to gather up all the groceries, chop up some lettuce, measure the portions of ingredients yourself and cook the meal. Whereas Purple Carrot would be the best choice if you want the ingredients portioned out and receive an easy-to-follow recipe that doesn’t require as much work. Of course, if you don’t want to do any work in the kitchen, then Veestro is the better purchase for ready-made, plant-based meal delivery.

When I first started researching vegan, plant-based meal delivery services (and kits), it was a lot of information to process. So, here are my final thoughts as your marvelous mind starts to create a plan to eat healthier while saving time.
Veestro is the perfect plant-based meal delivery brand if you’re looking for done-for-you meals that require an oven or microwave. You can pop the meals in, wait until they heat up, and start munching on the fresh, organic tastefulness they provide. Convenience is valuable here at GLAM Vegan!

Hungryroot is the better option for those who want the grocery order experience in relation to cooking. Hungryroot does offer super simple recipes that anyone can follow. Believe me, if I can do it, you can do it. Just know that you’ll be doing more work in the kitchen with Hungryroot vs Purple Carrot and Veestro.
I purchased all three to experience each brand. That led me to my own opinion on what worked for me best. Of course, you can do that too.
With any of the three options, you can expect healthier foods and saved time. Can it get any better than that? Here’s to vegan, plant-based meal kits and delivery services! Cheers!
